Jeffrey L. Gilmore, DDS, MS

Meet Dr. Gilmore
I consider myself to be richly blessed to be able to provide a valuable service to my patients. Each day in the office is another opportunity to make a positive difference in their lives. I enjoy developing sincere relationships of trust with our patients and observing the transformation of personalities and improvement in self-esteem as their treatment progresses. In the 25 years I’ve been in practice, I have never lost the drive and excitement associated with my ability to improve the quality of my patients’ lives by creating the beautiful smile and functional bite they deserve.
Everyone who has been around me for any length of time knows how much I like to interact with people. I truly enjoy learning about what is happening in the lives of my patients and parents, and like to hear about their recent accomplishments and activities at school or work. I learn so much from these experiences; it may be the best part of my job.
Education and continuing education
My interest in becoming an orthodontist was sparked long before I began my formal dental education. In the sixth grade, I found myself intrigued by the combination of art and science that goes into creating an ideal smile. Following high school, I attended Ohio State University where I completed my undergraduate degree, followed by my Doctorate of Dental Surgery. I practiced general dentistry in the U.S. Navy for three years before earning my Master of Science in orthodontics — once again, from Ohio State — after which I was stationed with the U.S. Air Force in England as an orthodontist.
I attend more than 100 hours of continuing dental education every two years on topics that have a direct impact on my ability to provide evidence-based treatment for my patients. I also currently serve as the only Board Certified orthodontist in the Mid Ohio Valley.
Additionally, I have served as a part-time clinical associate professor in the graduate departments of orthodontics at both Ohio State and West Virginia University for many years. The interaction with the residents and obligation to teach in the clinic and conduct seminars on clinical orthodontics have made me a better orthodontist.

Outside the office
I was born in North Canton, OH and have lived in Marietta for the past 25 years. My wife of 39 years, Bernice, is a dental hygienist and serves as the practice manager for our two offices. We have three grown children: Drew, Pete, and Kyleigh.
When I’m not in the office, I enjoy traveling and cooking with my wife. I also have a serious interest in long-distance running and have completed more than 15 full marathons and multiple half marathons across the country.
